Summary[edit]

Description
English: With a humble beginning of a painter, Asim Basu (born November 30, 1935 in Balasore, Odisha, India; died February 1, 2017 in Bhubaneswar, Odisha) always remained behind the scene building the sets for theater to movies, to even designing most of Odia-language book covers. Everyone loved his marvelous production design of feature films and the book covers he crafted, but none paid much attention to gauge through the long list of names in the movie credit or a boring cover. Hadn't been it the love of one of Basu's fans—Debadatta Pati—the footage of this documentary couldn't have ever been shot. It was a warm afternoon towards the end of 2014, when we got at Asim Basu's house in Bhubaneswar. He wasn't keeping that well but the extravagant him could not say no to us. He was like a candle—you can build a huge castle with him, but a little bit of warmth can melt him down.

This documentary is in the memory of Asim Basu, who was never remembered for the revolution that he brought in the Odia film and theater industry, and died silently without waiting for anyone's accreditation. O Foundation pays homage to this extraordinary human being who devoted his entire life for art, literature and culture. Like most of our works, the video is available with a CC-BY-SA 3.0 license for everyone to watch, share, and download.
