Auf den beiden Grubenbahnhöfen Anna und Emil Mayrisch, vom Eschweiler Bergwerks-Verein betrieben, laufen noch heute mehrere Dampfloks. Sie stellen Kokskohlen- bzw. Kokszüge zusammen. Der Film zeigt die Vorbereitung von Anna 8 für den Schichtdienst, den Reparaturbetrieb auf Emil Mayrisch mit dem Wechseln eines Heizrohres und den Rangierbetrieb. In einem Interview wird der historische Hintergrund aufbereitet.
