Description
Altar dedicated to the Lares Augusti by the priests of the spring of Eure (cultores Urae fontis), with a relief of a priest standing before an altar and holding a patera.

Place of discovery Nîmes, near the Fontaine (1742)
Object history By the early 19th century the altar was in the the garden of the executioner of Nîmes, "située à l'extrémité du faubourg d'Avignon", where it was seen by François Artaud, who purchased it for the museum in Lyon in 1816. It was later returned to Nîmes and displayed in the Musée archéologique in the old college of the Jesuits. Transferred to the Musée de la Romanité in 2018.
