Description
English: So-called "Shroud of Charlemagne", Byzantine silk cloth (76 x 75 cms) with quadriga, late 8th c., possibly earlier. A section of the cloth (of about the same dimensions) was cut off in 1850 and sold to the Musée national du Moyen Âge in Paris. Textile collection of Aachen Cathedral Treasury, Aachen, Germany.
