Summary[edit]

Description
English: Rubber tube in liquid nitrogen

- The tube is composed of rubber that is a polymer material with elastic properties at room temperature. When the hose is cooled to liquid nitrogen temperature (–196 °) it becomes brittle. The temperature lowering results in decreasing of the movement of the structural parts of the materials (atoms, molecules, ions…) so they become brittle.

Planned and performed by Marina Stojanovska, Miha Bukleski and Vladimir Petruševski, Department of Chemistry, FNSM, Ss. Cyril and Methodius University, Skopje, Macedonia.
