Summary[edit]

Description
English: Rose in liquid nitrogen

- The rose, like any other plant, contains a large amount of water. When immersed in liquid nitrogen, the water as well as all the other organic components freeze. So, just as the hose made of rubber, it becomes very brittle. When a rose is dropped from a certain height, nothing spectacular happens, but when a “cooled” rose is being dropped from the same height, it shatters to pieces.

Planned and performed by Marina Stojanovska, Miha Bukleski and Vladimir Petruševski, Department of Chemistry, FNSM, Ss. Cyril and Methodius University, Skopje, Macedonia.
