Summary[edit]

Description
English: Nickel complexes

- Aqueous solutions of Ni2+ salts can form different complexes and precipitates with different ligands. Depending on the ligands, these complexes can have various colors. In 5 glasses, there is small amount of 5 different ligands: water, ammonia, ethylenediamine, dimethylglyoxime and potassium cyanide. In each glass, an aqueous solution of nickel(II) chloride is added and colorful complexes are formed: Ni(H2O)62+ (green color solution), Ni(NH3)62+ (blue color solution), Ni(en)32+ (purple color solution), Ni(DMG)22+ (pink precipitate) и Ni(CN)42– (yellow color solution), respectively.

Planned and performed by Marina Stojanovska, Miha Bukleski and Vladimir Petruševski, Department of Chemistry, FNSM, Ss. Cyril and Methodius University, Skopje, Macedonia.
