Description
Nederlands: Geconserveerde archeologische site onder de Onze-Lieve-Vrouwebasiliek in Tongeren, onderdeel van het museum Teseum (waarvan de kerkschat eveneens deel uit maakt). De archeologische site toont de ondergrondse resten van een Romeinse stadswoning, Romeinse stadsmuren en de vroegmiddeleeuwse voorlopers van de basiliek. Op deze foto is de apsis van de Romeinse basilica te zien (gemarkeerd met goudkleurige afscheiding). Of deze in de Romeinse tijd een religieuze functie had, is niet duidelijk. Wel werd de apsis in de 6e eeuw hergebruikt bij de bouw van de Merovingische kerk.
