Summary[edit]

Description
English: View from the north-west of the country house La Grande Suisse in Maastricht-Mariënwaard, the Netherlands. The villa was built around 1735 and enlarged with two towers around 1865. From 1875 until 1954 it was used as a Franciscan nunnery and boarding school for girls. In 2018 plans were approved to renovate the derelict building for use as a crematorium. At the time, little remained of the extensive gardens which had partly been taken up by an institution and school for children with special needs. The section of Limmelderweg seen in this photograph is no longer in use as the railway crossing that connected it to the rest of the street has been closed.
