English: ĀDAZI, Latvia – Michigan Governor Rick Snyder, U.S. Ambassador to Latvia, Nancy Pettit, Adjutant General of Michigan, Maj. Gen. Gregory Vadnais, Latvian Armed Forces Commander, Lt. Gen. Leonīds Kalniņs, and Latvian Infantry Brigade commander, Col. Ilmārs Lejiņš, unveil “Michigan Avenue” at Ādaži Military Base, Latvia, Tuesday, June 12, 2018, to commemorate the 25-year relationship between Latvia and Michigan under the U.S. National Guard Bureau's State Partnership Program (SPP). The event was also attended by U.S. and Latvian Military members. After the dedication, the distinguished visitors toured a construction work site where Michigan National Guard Engineers from the 110th Attack Wing, Battle Creek Air National Guard Base, Mich. have been operating as part of their annual Deployment for Training (DFT). The Civil Engineer Squadron is the fourth Air National Guard rotation supporting the 435th Construction and Training Squadron, Ramstein AB, Germany's project oversight. The U.S. Air Forces in Europe (USAFE) exercise-related construction projects are intended to provide temporary housing for participants from the United States and its Allies.
