Shoulder sleeve insignia are cloth emblems worn on the shoulders of US Army uniforms to identify the primary headquarters to which a Soldier is assigned. Distinctive unit insignia are metal emblems worn elsewhere on the uniform, and on the berets of enlisted Soldiers.
