Page management[edit]

Please let's discuss this general guidelines.

In the specific national pages of your competition you can write the winners chosen by your local organizers. This includes pages such as:

In this space you are write free to chose your style, including:

  • different and additional categories
  • national language(s)
  • comments
  • whatever you want

In this navbox we list the winners but also the finalists of WSC2017. This includes pages such as:

In the end this will not be done with a redirect because this will require a more uniform style.

  • Use of the English language (we can always translate if necessary, but this comes later)
  • List of the national finalists. We will write in the comment when they are also a national winner, but from the global point of view a winner is no different than a finalist in its own category. If you have another nice image of excellent quality, that image goes to the main jury. In country without a prize "winner" is just an honorific title for a finalist considered the nest one, that's it.
  • Standard five categories from the competition website.
  • general information about the composition of the national jury, probably (for those who can't read your language, for maximum transparency)

I am drafting a standard layout and I will test in two or three countries before proposing it. it's a matter of weeks.--Alexmar983 (talk) 09:42, 13 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I do fully support the idea, that national finalists should be presented with as uniform style as possible, have things written in English and there should be no redirects (please feel free to write about your local winners in your language on your competition subpage - it is just that this page here should be standardized).
In national competitions, you may have a random number of subcategories or special prices but for the international final, you may submit only up to 5 images per each standard competition categories (and in a set category that translates to 5 image sets so that one set may not have more than 10 images in it).
Would it be better to have the page titles as "Commons:Wiki_Science_Competition_2017/finalists/Austria"? This page here will list the overall winners (therefore this "winner" in the title). The information about national finalists could be added as subpages, but maybe the name isn't most suitable.
In the subpages I have so far supported the use of "ESPC 2015" template, that was used in the previous competion.

ok I move this information in Commons:Wiki_Science_Competition_2017/Evaluation and Commons:Wiki_Science_Competition/Evaluation.--Alexmar983 (talk) 10:52, 15 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The template is fine. We can always change it's name later Kruusamägi, just ask sround (you can do it now but it' not the most urgent thing). And the title we can change later too. As soon as I have the standard template (preparing in sandbox) we move all to "finalist". you have the navbox of the national finalists, the list of the category of the finalists by type and finally a list of the final international winners, which we can put in a separate page or just use the website for that. irst, we have to arrive there...--Alexmar983 (talk) 10:56, 15 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Deadline[edit]

Hi there, is there a deadline foreseen for the final announcement of the winners ? Is the selection process still ongoing ? Thanks Ogoletti (talk) 12:13, 2 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
