- Hi Charlesjsharp! We have been keen to do this in Wales for a couple of years now, so this year we decided to give it a go, with the competition being managed and supported by the Welsh Wici community and Welsh natural heritage organisations. As far as I know communities in the other Nations did not apply to take part this year. If you are interested in taking part, please do come and visit us in Wales! - Thanks for your reply, Jason. I do not approve of a unilateral politically-motivated "Welsh Nation" approach. I will try to get it stopped, but do not know if anyone will listen. You refer to you representing an organisation on you talk page. If your ediitng is related to a paid job, that would result in conflict of interest editing which is not allowed here. - Politically motivated? That is a strange comment. I can assure you that we just wanted to compete in the photographic competition. It's not a political move. As a Nation it's perfectly reasonable to compete in an international photography competition, just as we field a national football team. However you are of course entitled to your views.
- With regards to your second point. Yes I can confirm that i am employed by the National Library of Wales. As a Wikimedian in Residence, I believe it is acceptable to edit Wikipedia during work hours (read here), although I must stress that the primary focus of my role is on sharing open access content from my organisation and facilitating contribution to Wikimedia projects.
