I think the "empty first line" might also have been a bug, but I'm not sure anymore. I remember opening the pre-vandalism version and trying to save directly from that.

Edit kind: I was trying to revert the last three edits, which are vandalism. I did this by going back three revisions and hitting "Edit", then when the warning about changing non-Wikitext data came up, selecting the option to restore the revision.

The abuse filter claimed that I was changing the first line to something other than a template. I was changing the only line in the English caption data segment, and this was already not a template.

I was able to revert the vandalism myself because it looks like the bug did not happen for me. @Jeff G. seems like "Report an issue" is synonymous of being served a canned answer :/. I'm not really what you'd call a "new account" (7K+ edits in 9 years)! Notice also that the filter you're linking, unlike those in the Phabricator ticket, checks for autopatrolled, not autoconfirmed: do you actually mean "Do not try to revert vandalism unless you're a sysop or a bot"?? According to Phabricator the bug has been there for almost 2 years with no noticeable progress, so I suppose this will be the definitive policy from now?
