Rules

[edit]

Wiki Loves Monuments in Pakistan will follow the same rules as the international competition. Below are the basic rules to participate in the contest:

  • Photos must be taken and uploaded by the participant of an eligible listed building. The eligible sites are listed here.
  • You must upload your entry to Wikimedia Commons during the month of September 2014. It doesn’t matter when you took the photo, only that you upload it after 00:00 PST on 1st September and before the final deadline of 24:00 PST on 30th September.
  • You must supply your entry under a free licence, or release it to the public domain. The default licence used by the upload wizard is Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 (CC-BY-SA 3.0).
  • The images can be edited or processed by using any software. However images with watermarks are not permissible.
  • Please make sure that you are not uploading someone else’s photos, since you will be giving everyone the right to use these photos freely. Similarly, you can’t upload anyone else’s intellectual property. For example, if a copyrighted modern sculpture is near the site, please do not photograph that as part of the site.
  • Photographs that are already on Wikimedia Commons are not eligible (i.e re-uploading is not allowed).
  • All entries must be original photographs taken by the contestant. Such entries that constitute copyright infringement and fraud will be disqualified.

Judging Criteria

[edit]

A panel of photographic experts will select the best 10 entries from Pakistan on the following criteria:

  • Technical quality of the photograph;
  • Originality and creativity;
  • Potential usefulness and overall value of the image to Wikipedia
