2012 Winner - International

Wiki Loves Monuments contest is now ready to receive Algerian pictures. During the whole month of September participants can upload their pictures of Algeria's monuments and historical sites. Pictures may have been taken at any time but need to be uploaded before September 30, 11:59 pm to be eligible for the contest.

Even the pictures you have taken during your last trip outside Algeria are accepted as long as they have been taken in one of the participating countries. The only rules of the contest is that you need to have taken the picture yourself, that the subject of the picture is a recognized historical site by the government, and that you accept to put the picture under a CC BY-SA 3.0 licence.

Conditions participation
  • participation at all stages of the Contest is purely voluntary and free
  • participants must be registered to Wikimedia Commons http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Accueil
  • All photographic work must be taken and upload a personal way in his account
  • All entries must be uploaded by September 30 at 23:59, to be eligible.

How to choose the photo for competition?

Jury
  • at the end of the national and international competition, an mixte international jury will select the winning photos

the national contest will be able promote ten images into the international level of contest. The international jury, made up of five members with different skills and backgrounds, will determine the winners of this final round out of the nominated images and award the prizes.

*   Technical quality (sharpness, use of light, perspective etc.);

*   Usefulness of the image for Wikipedia.

February 19 register your local wikilovesmonuments.TLD domain. Create a redirect to Wikimedia Commons if you have no content yet
February 19 create your local OTRS queue and team
February 20 (if needed) create a mailing list for your local Wiki Loves Monuments
February 21 start preparing a task management system, divide the work between the people
February 22 contact your government or other responsible institution/organisation and ask for the lists of monuments
February 25 Add your country to this list on Wikimedia Commons and create a page for it. Also, fill in the progress table for your country
February 26 have all main organisers subscribed to the global mailing list
February 28 (if needed) create a timeline for your local Wiki Loves Monuments; feel free to use this one as a base!

March 1 contact other partner organisations or institutions (cultural institutions, governmental offices in charge of heritage, etc.)
