The pages contain possible files to upload of paintings made by painters died before 1923. 1923 is a magic year in copyright. A work needs to be in the public domain in both the USA as the source country. Every painting published before January 1, 1923 is in the public domain in the USA and 1923 makes it the death year of the author plus 95 years which is basically every country.
How soon a robot will automatically upload a file is determined by the completeness of data. The bot looks for:
- A {{Creator}} template to use
- A Commons category for the painter to put the image in
The number of days is based on the last edit on the Wikidata item for the painting and the Wikidata item for the painter. This is done so users have time to create the missing category and/or template.
