The main scope of this project is to unify the structure of protected area categories. The starting point are the protected areas of Germany.
Scope definition: Protected areas are areas primarily defined for nature conservation. This can also include cultural heritage aspects. Most of the areas are classified by the IUCN and can be found in the World Database on Protected Areas (WDPA). But this project also aims to cover protected areas that are not in the international databases.
