Commons:Walters Art Museum/Cleanup

This page is for coordinating metadata cleanup efforts related to Walters Art Museum (WAM) images. The main tasks include:

Ensuring all matadata contained in WAM website pages is included on Commons pages
Ensure image descriptions are using creator templates for authors and metadata translation templates (like {[tl|size}}, {{Technique}}, {{Title}}, etc.) whenever possible
Multiple views of an artwork are shown in a gallery added to "other version" parameter
License should be clear, concise and related to the artwork

Tasks[edit]

Add creator templates to all the images with known authors

creator templates and related categories were added to most of the images. Remaining tasks:

Category:Media from the Walters Art Museum: no creator template holds 100 images which were not yet categorized based on author. Creator templates were added to most images with known authors. Also most images were categorized based on author or in case of anonymous authors, based on place of origin.
Category:Media contributed by the Walters Art Museum: needs artist review contains 684 files with multiple authors. It is uncertain if all the author categories and creator templates are present. Also museum pages often describe roles of each co-author which information should not be lost. Please use author, artist, scribe, manufactured, and publisher parameters of the {{Walters Art Museum artwork}}.
Category:Media contributed by the Walters Art Museum: needs artist update contains 511 files which on museum pages had authors with phrases like "Workshop of", "Studio of", "(?)", etc. Those phrases should be added into creator templates.

Template internationalization

Bulk of template internationalization was already done by a bot. Use "Replacement tasks" section below for additional task ideas

Add "other version" parameter for works with multiple views

Still to be done. Will need to write bot for that ...

License cleanup

Separate licenses were created for 2D and 3D works, and proper license was added to each image. Use parameter "type" in {{Walters Art Museum license}} to correct the license if necessary.

This section collects replacement tasks which can be done by a bot.
