  •  Comment Two very good photos of an uncommon species of Odonta, the only ones available on Commons of this species. The two photos complement each other well in showing the same individual from two different angles and they are valuable. Nominating two photos of this kind for a VIS is going to the extreme with the original intention with valued image sets (two is a minimum set, an it is just the same individual taken from two individual angles). However, they seem for me to just fulfill the formal requirements for a VIS (the two photos have more values when seen together as a set than separate), so I think I am ready to support this nomination somehow. --Slaunger (talk) 21:01, 30 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Question But first a question: The two images show a male individual. Are females visually distinct from the males? If so, I think the scope should have a gender-specific addendum, cf. Commons:Valued image scope#Animals. --Slaunger (talk) 21:01, 30 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Yes, females are visually distinct (fatter abdomen and lacking long anal protrusion). I'm not experienced at VI, so am happy to go with whatever your recommendation is. I only nominated as a set because I saw some butterflies taken from the top and side. --99of9 (talk) 21:51, 30 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • I certainly understand your objective for the nomination, and also that at first VI is a place you need to get used to with its special focus on the scope. I hope, that if you stay around you will gradually get an even firmer grip on the process and guidelines (and see the point in it as well) . --Slaunger (talk) 22:01, 30 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
