Home page Lists of images Resources Help Desk Participants Organisers Onsite events Prizes Report General overview SVG Translation Campaign 2019 in India was a 38-day long campaign to translate the SVG files into Indian languages for use of regional language Wikipedias. After the SVG Translation Campaign a follow-up survey was conducted to understand the impact of the Campaign. This campaign was conducted after the Wikigraphists Bootcamp which was a training workshop to equip the participants with the skills required to create illustrations and digital drawings in SVG format. The surveys were conducted by User:Gnoeee and User:KCVelaga, with the support from User:RMaung (WMF), Lindsay Anderson, and User:CAlmog (WMF). Notes: In total 38 participants responded to the survey including organisers. Though the synthesis of responses to the survey form was intended to be anonymous, we would like to acknowledge the efforts of the following users as a whole for taking time to fill up the survey form. These may (but not limited to) include the points that have already been covered in one of the above sections, or responses that were close to binary for further interpretation. Insights and responses What was your role in the user in the campaign? How many SVG files has been translatde and uploaded as a part of the campaign? How would you rate your knowledge of working with SVGs BEFORE participating in the Translation Campaign? How would you rate your knowledge of working with SVGs now at the time of survey? How often have you used the skills learned during the Translation Campaign since the campaign ended? Have you translated any other SVGs since the Translation Campaign ended? How many? How much would you agree with the following statement? I thought my experience with the SVG Translation Campaign was worthwhile. How useful were the resources provided? What more could have been included in the resources, if anything? The tutorial could have been presented in all the Indic languages. Language organisers could have easily done that. A permanent forum for submitting doubts/questions and other users may answer it. Add some more dictionaries which have more words. Did you face any issues with the fonts? If you did, how did you resolve them? Discussions in online sessions, trial & error methods Through the help of coordinator and organiser. Contacting the campaign help desk. Seek help in Ubuntu forums and with fellow wikimedians. Would you be interested in further training on vector graphics? If yes, what would you be interested to learn? Want to learn about clickable SVG, how to translate big and more complex files, any tips, tricks and shortcuts related to Inkspace I want to pursue my knowledge more on vector graphics by training and this type of campaign. I am a beginner. Would be good if this bootcamp organized in every state or for every language. How to make a SVG image like Maps, boarders, etc. Working with SVG images and conversion of raster images into SVG and multilingual SVGs. Font developing workshops. Secondary level of complex editing, Maps. GIMP Animation etc.
