  •  Oppose +1. This does not seem to have been a conscious compositional choice.--Peulle 06:18, 23 August 2021 (UTC)
  •  Support OK 4 me. --Palauenc05 07:23, 23 August 2021 (UTC)
@Peulle: I admire you when you can make a "conscious compositional choice" during a soccer game. Do you pull the players like marionettes or tell them how and where to run? I've never succeeded in doing this in 45 years... --Steindy (talk) 21:27, 28 August 2021 (UTC)
  • My point is that you missed your shot. You didn't make a deliberate choice of cropping out part of the player in order to focus on a specific part like his upper body; you tried to capture the whole player and failed. The fact that only a small part of the hand is cut off shows that this wasn't compositional. You missed. Part of his hand is cut off. That makes it not a QI.--Peulle 22:39, 29 August 2021 (UTC)
  • @ Peulle: I don't agree. Just look at all the pictures of houses with cars in front of them, which are waved through as QI. If you compare these to the shot of a football player in motion, in which a small part of a hand is cut off, your judgement "you missed your shot" seems inadequate to me. --Palauenc05 10:20, 30 August 2021 (UTC)
  • I'm not prepared to compare this photo to all other photos that make it through QIC, as I have not reviewed them. I am, however, drawing a line between a conscious choice made by the photographer and unintentional misses. In this photo, the photographer has decided to cut off the player's legs, in order to focus on his upper body. This choice of composition is perfectly acceptable. In this photo we're discussing here, however, the photographer clearly intended to capture the whole player. And didn't. My vote therefore stands.--Peulle 07:47, 31 August 2021 (UTC)
