  •  Comment - Interesting, and I read w:Melomics. Fascinating. I'm very surprised that a computer can compose such coherent music by itself, though it does trail off illogically (to my taste) at the end. However, the source link, http://geb.uma.es/melomics, produces a "Server Not Found" error for me. I also think that the Wikipedia article should be linked in the file description. Also, is this really accurate? "This media depicts a musical concept or technique, which is considered too simple to be eligible for copyright protection, or which consists only of technique, with no original creative input." Isn't it more that because the music was composed by a computer without human intervention other than the program which the computer itself used, that no human being can copyright the resulting music? Or is it just that the company chose not to try to copyright everything and litigate that claim? A quite inexact comparison is the monkey selfie, which since it was taken by a monkey and monkeys are deemed not to have copyright rights, the photo was ruled to be in the public domain.
I also have another thought: Is this a typical Melomics work, or does such a thing as a typical Melomics work really exist? -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 05:34, 16 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Ikan Kekek, I added a way-back machine link in the source and linked to the en-wiki articles. I don't think it is in public domain just because it was created using a software, softwares are not living things to own the copyright + the software is itself created by the that University, so anything produced by that software is actually work of the University itself IMO, maybe in future when AGI will be a reality these computer can copyright the work. I don't want this to happen, why would anyone be happy to see his/her laptop asking for credits he/she created using it -- Eatcha (Talk-Page) 18:58, 16 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
And why is File:Macaca nigra self-portrait large.jpg not a featured picture? I will nominate this now -- Eatcha (Talk-Page) 19:00, 16 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Back to Melomics: So what's the real reason that it is public domain? I think just because the programmers wanted it to be, and the notice on the file should reflect that and no false reasons. Anyway, I  Support. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 19:20, 16 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
