Too broad category

[edit]

Is this category meant to hold all images taken with a Canon EOS 550D? That's gonna be a lot, considering it's a very common camera and if I only go to my own images it's more than 1.000 pictures, and counting. Should we narrow it to only hold Quality Images and Featured Pictures? V-wolf (talk) 15:01, 7 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This is just one of many similar categories (see Category:Photographs by camera). The category is broad and meant for all images taken with Canon EOS 550D. It is, however, hidden category, and therefore meant to be just a secondary way of categorization (the categorization by content, location etc. being the primary way). Per-license categories (like Category:CC-BY-SA-3.0 with over two million images) are another example of secondary categorization. I don't think this category should be narrowed to only hold Quality Images and Featured Pictures. However, it is of course possible to create sub-categories such as Category:Featured Images taken with Canon EOS 550D. ––Apalsola tc 20:43, 7 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
What's the point with a category if it's impossible to browse it? For statistics? V-wolf (talk) 23:44, 7 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
