Move request[edit]

I disagree with move request. Sugar railways are special (generally light and narrow-gauge) industrial and agricultural railways for sugar-beet or sugar-cane growing and sugar production. For the transport of completed sugar are used common railways which don't need some special category. It should be found some better name. --ŠJů (talk) 07:43, 18 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This category isn't about the railways used - it is about the process of transporting sugar by any form of rail transpport. If the name includes "sugar beets", then you restrict the category very, very tightly - and "sugar railways" becomes an incorrect subcategory, because that can also mean transport of sugar in other form than just beets. Such as sugar canes. or processed, whether it uses different railways or not. Therefore, I support the rename - this category is too narrow, especially as there are not a whole load of other categories like Category:Sugar cane transport by rail - let us keep the very specific cat names for when we have the generic ones done, and with some images in them.

This old request is still open. In the way the category is currently inserted in the hierarchy, I think it needs to be renamed. Still, there should be space for a category illustrating specifically the transport of "sugar beets" (it should have more images or a few subcategories of lines that transport just that). -- User:Docu at 18:42, 22 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose (Sugar) beets require a specific handling and transport, much different from the sugar cane or sugar/wheat/flour granular or processed food. --Foroa (talk) 05:59, 23 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Shall we create an additional Category:Sugar transport by rail or just remove the subcategory Category:Sugar railways. -- User:Docu at 06:27, 23 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It looks as if there are two isolated branches: sugar beets and sugar cane. Better split them off in two seperate branches and don't try to set them under one single "sugar hat". --Foroa (talk) 11:40, 24 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
