Category talk:Steam locomotives of Germany
Manufacturers[edit]
There are also categories for manufacturers. All engines categorized among Category:Steam locomotives of Germany ought to be categorized at least twice, in addition to Steam locomotives of Germany for the using country also in a category for the manufacturer, such as Category:Borsig locomotives. Please remember, many of the first locomotives in Germany had been produced by Engllish manufacturers, later German manufacturers like Borsig and Kraus-Maffei produced many locomotives and some series that never ran in Germany, and Cockerill in Belgium also produced series that never ran in Belgium.--Ulamm (talk) 14:02, 23 November 2010 (UTC)
Over-categorization[edit]
Here we have many instances of Over-categorization, such as:
- Category:DR_Class_01.5 --> Category:Steam locomotives of Deutsche Reichsbahn (GDR) --> Category:Steam locomotives of Germany (=correct)
in conjunction with
- Category:DR_Class_01.5 --> Category:Steam locomotives of Germany (=then redundant),
which should be avoided as per Commons:Categories#Why_over-categorization_is_a_problem.
So I would delete the redundant categorizations in their respective places, unless there is some particular justification here -- if so, please advise.

- Why is an unseen discussion thread on German locomotives now being used as an excuse for decategorizing images for Japan? Andy Dingley (talk) 14:34, 28 June 2016 (UTC)
- Sorry, @Andy Dingley: Kindly note my comment elsewhere. Thanks, --HReuter (talk) 12:29, 2 July 2016 (UTC)
