About move request[edit]

Guipuscoa is only in french and in occitan, no first choice for commons, Guipúzcoa is Spanish, no first choice either. Why not Gipuzkoa (Basque and official), this official name is more and more used in wikipedia's, see f.i. en:category:Gipuzkoa. There is also en:Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Basque which concludes to Gipuzkoa. --Havang(nl) (talk) 12:09, 27 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I spent hours to find a formal English name, and Guipuscoa comes the closest but without real solid arguments (as with many Basque locations). I suggest to align with the parent cat and leave that as far as possible in peace. en:Guipúzcoa has changed many times and I don't fancy another name battle. --Foroa (talk) 11:29, 27 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Anyway, Guipuscoa was the name accepted in the great category:Basque Country debate. --Foroa (talk) 14:28, 27 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Foroa, do you mean this: Category talk:Basque Country/Category scheme Basque Country , there stands Category:Gipuzkoa, as the outcome of the discussion, but then this category turns out to be a redirect !? --Havang(nl) (talk) 15:45, 27 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yes and no. The discussion started in Category talk:Basque Country (nice reading ;), the conclusion in Category talk:Basque Country/Category scheme Basque Country and finally a last attack and serious convulsion in Category talk:Gipuzkoa. --Foroa (talk) 16:24, 27 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Sometimes, the caves of wikipedia/commons are deep. It should be nice to have in all subcats the same name. Hovever I can live with two names (Gipuzkoa and Guipuscoa) but three (the third being Guipúzcoa) is really too complicated. I can agree with Guipuscoa here. --Havang(nl) (talk) 16:43, 27 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

In my opinion, Guipúzcoa is not acceptable. And I think that Havang(nl) is right, when he says that Gipuzkoa is the official one. At this moment, even the english Wikipedia is using it: w:Gipuzkoa. I propose to remove this category and the name of every category related to Gipuzkoa. I will remind here also that the "en:Statute of Autonomy of the Basque Country" says in it's 6th article, "basque is the own language of the Basque Country" (which can also mean: spanish is not the own language of the Basque Country).--Unai Fdz. de Betoño (talk) 13:46, 28 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed that the name on en:wikipedia changed again. There seems to be some agreement now in en:Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Basque. Maybe wait a bit to stabilize and trickle down. --Foroa (talk) 17:58, 28 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
En nu?--Unai Fdz. de Betoño (talk) 16:08, 28 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
If you agree, add in Template:Category redirectPeople of Gipuzkoa as follows a line: .... redirect|People .... Greetings, --Havang(nl) (talk) 17:23, 28 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
