Aren't all electric motor scooters and motorcycles battery-powered?[edit]

Presently Category:Battery-powered motor scooters‎ (containing only two items) is a subcat of Category:Electric motor scooters. Is this needed? I mean, are there any electric motor scooters that aren't battery-powered?

A similar issue exists with Category:Battery-powered motorcycles and Category:Electric motorcycles, and in fact also there is Category:Electrically-powered motorcycles. What is the difference? ITookSomePhotos (talk) 15:38, 7 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

There are already fuel-cell motorcycles. This is a kind of electrically-powered vehicle. Trigenibinion (talk) 17:18, 7 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I understand that electric and electrically-powered are the same. Trigenibinion (talk) 17:19, 7 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
There are also fuel-cell scooters. Trigenibinion (talk) 17:23, 7 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Trigenibinion: I see, thanks; would you say, however, that 99-100% of the electric scooters here presently not under Category:Battery-powered motor scooters‎ are in fact battery-powered? ITookSomePhotos (talk) 18:05, 7 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I think a lot of BEVs have been tagged only as electric here. Note that PHEVs are considered electrically-powered. Trigenibinion (talk) 18:29, 7 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe you would be also interested in motor trikes which get classified as tricycles (the fact that some filenames have this word does not help). Trigenibinion (talk) 18:35, 7 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Do you (or anyone) think that all the battery-powered electric motor scooters should explicitly go under Category:Battery-powered motor scooters‎, or could the default for Category:Electric motor scooters be battery-powered, and only the non-battery types need subcategorisation? ITookSomePhotos (talk) 20:23, 7 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The general way it is done in commons is to have a BEV category under the EV one. It is wrong to place BEVs directly in an EV category if some non-BEVs have been or are being developed. Trigenibinion (talk) 11:20, 9 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
OK, sadly I can't see myself going through 125 images and 39 subcats, determining whether they are battery-powered, and manually changing the categorisation. If it's a fair assumption that all are battery-powered, then I guess it could be done with an automated process, if anyone knows how to do that. Also, I notice that the "Wikidata" box lists "electric scooter" as "subclass of battery electric vehicle", which, from what you say, also is wrong (or not necessarily always true).
