Categorization[edit]

Media should also be included in more specific categories if possible, e.g. the category of the species in the video. Snowmanradio (talk) 00:07, 13 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Subcategories[edit]

I think we should keep splitting off subcats until we are at or below 200 files. Orders or families are a good idea. I have created one recently for Anseriformes, but I haven't really given it enough thought to make another move. Richard001 (talk) 07:40, 1 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Given that about half of the bird species are Passeriformes, that might be a good way to split the category. Beyond that there shouldn't be any pressing need for further categories for some time. I might do this soon. Richard001 (talk) 03:56, 20 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Edit: Have moved them to the new subcategory as far down as File:Fairy Martin dayb95.ogg. I'm stopping there for now. Richard001 (talk) 04:39, 20 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I have moved all the Passeriformes videos I can find after a systematic search. Hopefully I haven't made any mistakes. Maintenance of this category will be needed to move videos of taxa with subcategories to those, and more subcats can also be created (anything with more than about 20 videos is a good candidate), but this is a good start.
