English: A small structure sometimes called a "chapel" that looks like a building but a person cannot possibly enter it, and therefore it's a shrine rather than a chapel. Sometimes they are no more than a small stone column, or a niche in a wall with a statue in it. See Wayside shrine for context. Note: the words "veldkapel", "wegkapel" or "kapel" in Dutch are somewhat ambiguous. Besides these shrines, there are also the related categories below.
Nederlands: Een wayside shrine (letterlijk: wegschrijn), in het Nederlands vaak veldkapel, wegkapel, kapel(letje) of heilig huisje genoemd, is een klein bouwwerk dat er soms uitziet als een gebouwtje, maar dat niét betreedbaar is. Soms is het niet meer dan een zuil of paal, of een kleine nis met een beeldje er in. De Nederlandse termen "veldkapel", "wegkapel" en "kapel" worden voor verschillende typen bouwwerken gebruikt.
