English: Walter Carleton "Walt" Monegan III (born May 1951) is an American government official and retired law enforcement officer. As of 2016, Monegan is serving in the cabinet of Alaska governor Bill Walker as commissioner of the Alaska Department of Public Safety. He previously served as chief of the Anchorage Police Department and commissioner of public safety under governor Sarah Palin before his controversial firing. Under Walker, he also served as the interim commissioner of the Alaska Department of Corrections.
