English: The Walls of Constantinople are a series of stone walls that have surrounded and protected the city of Constantinople (today Istanbul in Turkey) since its founding as the capital of the Eastern Roman Empire by Emperor Constantine the Great. With numerous additions and modifications during their history, they are one of the greatest and most complex fortification systems ever built. Today's walls are almost entirely built in Ottoman times and restored by the Turkish Republic. Note this is not a category for just any wall.
