Created as Volkswagen Caminhões, subsidiary of Volkswagen do Brasil, in 1981, it was rebranded when it became a subsidiary of Volkswagen AG in 2000. It was sold to MAN SE in 2009 and reintegrated the Volkswagen Group when it became a brand of Traton in February 2020.
