English: Vettattnad (Tanur swaroopam or Prakasa ("light") kingdom, sometimes referred as Vettathunadu or Bettatnad) was one of the small erstwhile feudal kingdoms (nadu, Indian Princely States) in south Malabar region (in present day Kerala state) on Arabian Sea in southwest India ruled by a Hindu dynasty. The king was called ‘raja’or ‘tampurān’. The Vettattnād royal family lost many of its members during the invasions of Mysore rulers Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan, and became extinct on the death of the last king, on 24 May 1793. The kingdom was annexed to British Malabar by his death and the temple of the royal family was transferred to the Zamorin (Saamoothiri) of Calicut in 1842.
