Images of verandas over public footpaths, on shopping streets and precincts in Queensland towns and suburbs.
In some cases the structures are very similar in build and design to those found on individual buildings, such as private houses. In others they are functionally similar to awnings and porticos (radically different in structure) while in build looking more like a veranda. In short, the category is confusing. Strictly speaking, a veranda is part of the structure of a building -- an extension of its ground floor. These structures are primarily additions to the public footpath.
