The Valþjofstaður door is romanesque church door from Iceland, dating back to 1200 AD. In its upper rondel it shows three episodes of the medieval tale "Le chevalier au lion". A knight slays a dragon thereby saving the life of a lion. Therefore the lion is following the knight and, after the knight´s death, lies mourning on his grave. The lower roundel shows four interlaced dragons.
