Misidentification[edit]

Two species, now known as Euphorbia regis-judae and Euphorbia lamarckii (syns. E. obtusifolia Poir., E. broussonetii), have been confused for many years and their distributions reversed in many well-used sources. E. regis-judae is an eastern species, found only in Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, as well as western Morocco and north-western Western Sahara. E. lamarckii is a western species, found in Tenerife, north-western La Gomera, La Palma and El Hierro. See en:Euphobia regis-judae and the references therein.
