Deutsch: Die Sammlung Steinfels wird in der Zentralbibliothek Zürich aufbewahrt und besteht aus 2'275 Schweizer Landschaftsgrafiken, darunter 562 Zeichnungen.

Die Werke stammen vorwiegend aus dem 17. und 18. Jahrhundert. Vertreten sind Künstler wie Johann Ludwig Aberli, Johann Balthasar Bullinger, Johann Melchior Füssli, Johann Rudolph Schellenberg und Johann Caspar Ulinger.

Die Sammlung wurde vermutlich zwischen etwa 1760 und 1790 von Kaufmann Johann Martin II. Usteri-von Muralt im Neuenhof (1722-1803) angelegt. In der Familie Usteri blieb die Sammlung bis zu Hans Conrad Usteri-Wegmann (1795-1873), der kinderlos verstarb. Danach gelangte der Bestand in das Eigentum von Heinrich Cramer (1806-1874) und über über dessen Tochter Barbara Luise Cramer (1838-1919), die Jakob Friedrich Steinfels (1837-1898) heiratete, an die Familie Steinfels. Ihr Sohn, Heinrich Wilhelm Steinfels (1874-1929), vertraute die Sammlung 1925 der Zentralbibliothek Zürich als Depositum an. Die Gönnerin Emma Lina Escher-Abegg (1869-1949) finanzierte 1930 den Ankauf der Sammlung durch die Zentralbibliothek.


English: The Steinfels Collection is held by the Zentralbibliothek Zürich and consists of 2,275 landscape images, 562 of which are drawings, the remainder being prints.

The pictures date from the 17th and 18th centuries and feature works by artists such as Johann Ludwig Aberli, Johann Balthasar Bullinger, Johann Melchior Füssli, Johann Rudolph Schellenberg and Johann Caspar Ulinger among others.

The collection is believed to have been amassed between around 1760 and 1790 by the Zürich businessman Johann Martin II. Usteri-von Muralt im Neuenhof (1722-1803) and remained in the Usteri family until Hans Conrad Usteri-Wegmann (1795-1873), who died without progeny. Thereafter it passed into the possession of Heinrich Cramer (1806-1874) whose daughter Barbara Luise Cramer (1838-1919) brought it into the Steinfels family through her marriage with Jakob Friedrich Steinfels (1837-1898). Her son, Heinrich Wilhelm Steinfels (1874-1929), entrusted the entire collection to the custody of the Zentralbibliothek Zürich in 1925 on a deposit basis and eventually in 1930, through the generosity of the benefactress Emma Lina Escher-Abegg (1869-1949), the Steinfels Collection was purchased by the Zentralbibliothek and passed irrevocably into its ownership.
