English: The stone waterfall was formed 4 million years ago from basalt lava, which solidified in volcanic crater under the Earth surface. The five- and six-hedral jointing had originated by slow lava cooling, characteristic of basalt. However, such a crooked form is unique all over Europe. These basalt columns were discovered by the raw material mining using it for building the Šomoška Castle.
