Nederlands: STUDIOKCA, een ontwerpstudio en architectenbureau in New York City, maakte van vijf ton plastic afval een standbeeld van een walvis in Brugge. In 2019 werd dit beeld Skyscraper (Wolkenkrabber) tijdelijk uitgeleend aan Utrecht.
English: STUDIOKCA, a Brooklyn-based (New York City, USA) architecture and design firm, has pulled over five tons of waste from the ‘plastic soup’ that is floating on the surface of the pacific ocean. This accumulation was used as a medium for their four story tall sculptural whale that now rises up out of an Utrecht canal. It is there on temporary loan from Brugge, Belgium, for six months. This colossal whale,‘skyscraper,’serves to both address the 150 million tons of plastic waste which remain, and emphasize the necessity for individual and collective action.
