The Sharp GF series of boomboxes with triple-digit-model-numbers, respectively stereo radio cassette recorders, was built from about 1980. Some models of the series, which included (e.g.) GF-555, GF-666, GF-777, and GF-999, were among the largest portable radio cassette devices which the company Sharp built, and were also generally among the largest boomboxes on the market. There were further Sharp GF series boomboxes with irregular or asymmetrical model numbers (such as GF-4646 and GF-9494) which were mostly smaller and cheaper models. Especially the larger models, like the ones in this category, have become collector's items (as of 2023) and are sold, even in non-functional state, for relatively high prices.
