English: Serjeants' Inn, on Chancery Lane in the City of London. The Inn, on the east side of Chancery Lane, west of Clifford's Inn, was originally acquired by the Serjeants in 1414-15 (when it may also have been called Farringdon Inn). By 1720, according to Strype, it was 'old and very much decayed and the Front part lately rebuilt was let out as Shops. The Hall had also been rebuilt and was large and good.' The inn was rebuilt, all but the old dining-hall, by Sir Robert Smirke, in the years 1837–38. The Society was dissolved in 1876; the Inn was sold by auction 1877 and eventually pulled down. [1], [2]
