Sasebo Naval Arsenal of the Imperial Japanese Navy had six dry docks. The four docks of these were requisitioned by the United States Navy in 1945 after the World War II, and called Sasebo Dry Dock Area. Later some returned to Japan and operated by the Sasebo Heavy Industries Co., Ltd.. Currently, USN still operates No.2 Dock by the U.S. Naval Ship Repair Detachment Sasebo, and has the right to use No.3 Dock as the Joint Use Facility.
