Saruwaka-chō, Asakusa 浅草猿若町 was the area of Asakusa 浅草 to which the three major kabuki theaters of Edo 江戸三座 were moved in 1842. It became a major center for tea houses and restaurants catering to theater goers. The three theaters gradually moved to other parts of Tōkyō or closed in the Meiji period. Saruwaka-chō is now a part of Asakusa 6-chōme 浅草六丁目 to the north east of Asakusa's main Buddhist temple Sensō-ji 浅草寺.
