English: The Soviet S-300V (The V suffix stands for Voyska (ground forces)) was designed to act as the army air defence system, providing a defence against ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and aircraft, replacing the SA-4-SAM.
Deutsch: Die sowjetische S-300W (das W steht für Woiska (Landstreitkräfte)), NATO-Codename SA-12A Gladiator und SA-12B Giant ist ein mobiles, allwetterfähiges Langstrecken-Boden-Luft-Lenkwaffensystem zur Bekämpfung von Kampfflugzeugen, Marschflugkörpern sowie ballistischen Kurz- und Mittelstreckenraketen. Die neueste Version ist die S-300WM, NATO-Code SA-23 Gladiator/Giant.
