The Royal Star and Garter Home Memorial Chapel (1919-1924) was designed by Sir Edwin Cooper and is on the lower ground floor. It was completely renovated in 1999 and is War Memorial. It has marble walls and floor with the plaster ceiling decorated with symbolic emblems, incorporating the Cowdray family arms. The Chapel was given by Viscountess Cowdray in memory of her son Captain Francis Geoffrey Pearson who was killed in action on 6th September 1914. There is a bust of Capt Pearson.
