English: Located on the east side of Yonge Street, north of Bloor Street, the Red Lion Inn opened in 1808 as an inn and tavern. It was one of the first establishments in the (then) suburban Village of Yorkville, and was built to serve the traffic coming into town from Davenport Road and Yonge Street. Sympathizers of William Lyon Mackenzie met regularly at the inn in the years leading up to the Upper Canada Rebellion in 1837.
