English: Rafael Solanich i Ballús (Barcelona, 1895 – 1990). Pupil of Esteve Monegal. He first studied and later taught at the Catalan School of Crafts. He took part in the Montjuïc Salon, 1933-35. He was awarded the third prize medal at the National Exhibition in Madrid in 1943 and the Gold Medal at the National Exhibition of Decorative Arts in 1949. His subject matter is principally maternity scenes and religious themes, examples of which can be found in churches all over Catalonia.
