- 1900-12-19 launched at Blohm & Voss, Hamburg (Yard No 145)
- 1901-04-16 completed, named Präsident, Deutsche Ost-Afrika Linie, Hamburg
- 1914-10-18 ship engine destroyed by crew of HMS Chatham at Lindi, Tanganyika
- 1915-09-29 burnt out after attack by HMS Hyacinth und HMS Challenger at Lindi, Tanganyika
- 1919 wreck towed to Cape Town, later hulked and laid-up in Saldanha Bay
- 1955 scuttled in Saldanha Bay
