English: The Capuchin convent in Taormina was expropriated in 1866, and only in 1902 was it handed over to the nuns who made it an orphanage, and who still own it today. Gloeden therefore had the opportunity to use it for his photos in this time span, more specifically around 1885-1895. The fountain and the baroque benches still exist today, although the panorama nowadays is an urban, not a rural one.
